Since I spent the better part of my weekend reading, I've started and finished Sara Nelson's So Many Books, So Little Time. I picked it because I was beginning to feel overwhelmed by my TBR list and I wanted to see someone else accomplish theirs. But at the end of her year, she is still left with a lot of unread books. I guess the lesson is that you will always have a TBR list, just enjoy the books that you are reading. I thought the book was interesting. There were lots of times that she described the way I feel about reading. I hadn't read many of the books that she discussed, but I still enjoyed her thoughts on them.
I also found a great reading spot in Golden Gate Park today. I know a few of you were wondering if I'd found a good place to read out here and other than my bed, the couch, and the bus/train, I hadn't found anything. Today, Nicole and I went into the park with the goal of eventually making it to the free Everclear/Smashmouth concert (who wouldn't want to listen to bands that were popular 10 years ago when they were in high school). But first, we decided we would relax and read a bit (she has taken over the copy of Water for Elephants that I just got from the library – I guess I'll have to wait a bit for it). We found a nice little spot of grass that was shielded from the wind by trees and contained only a few other people. We then spent an hour or two just hanging out and reading and talking. It was very lovely. We did eventually make it to the show, but the first half was the better part of the afternoon. I will have to return to that spot on the next warm, weekend afternoon (which, in San Francisco, could be awhile).
I think I'm going to begin HP and the Order of the Phoenix tonight before I go to sleep.
