Book Update August 23, 2007

I've finished a few books recently, but haven't discussed them, so here they are:

I finished Twilight yesterday after starting it the evening before.  I loved it.  It's young adult, so it wasn't difficult, but I was enthralled by the story.  I thought the love story was beautiful.  Ben kept making fun of me for smiling while I was reading it.  It made me feel like a teenager again.  Sometimes that's a good thing.  I've been getting more into fantasy and vampires have always held a soft spot for me (like Buffy and the Last Vampire series I was obsessed with when I was younger).  But it wasn't very fantasy-ish.  It seemed more realistic.  I can't wait to go get New Moon and Eclipse and read them.

I finished this a couple days ago.  I liked it.  It was an easy read (although long).  I thought the story was very interesting.  Historical fiction is always interesting though.  I'm really looking forward to the movie and I'm sure I will read her other books eventually.

I finished this awhile ago.  I thought it was a little pretentious, but enjoyable.  I've heard his second book is better, so I'd like to give it a try.  It was an interesting idea with an interesting structure.  I really liked it when Alex narrated – his broken English was hilarious.  I know that I should have read this book a few years ago when it was big, but I'm glad that I finally got around to it.

I'm currently reading The Sun Also Rises.  I'm really excited to read another Hemingway – it's been awhile.  I'm liking it so far.  I'm amazed by his writing ability – the way that he can pack so much into so little.

I love Stephenie Meyer's series, it's so romantic. It's hard to explain them and not make them sound "cheesy" but I really do love them.

Yeah – I could see them being hard to explain. But as long as we enjoy them, right?
