I discovered a cool, new website today that I thought some of you would like to check out.  You can enter your location and find author events in your area.  The list of all events within 50 miles of me is below.  I think Ben and I (yes, Ben will be in town next weekend) are going to go see Gabriel Garcia Marquez on Saturday morning.  He's coming to Allen Park which is conveniently where Ben's grandma lives so we're planning on going to the event and then meeting her for lunch.  I'm excited because I've never been to a book reading/signing and I get jealous of everyone (or just Emily) who does.  So check out the website (I believe it works in the US, Canada, UK, and Australia) and see what you get.

That's very cool that there's a Gabriel Garcia Marquez event so close! You'll have to write a post about it after! Also, the Junot Diaz event would probably be very cool. He was in NY when The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao first came out, but I didn't go. That's the only bummer about NYC events….they usually are a day or two after the book is released, or sometimes the very same day. So sometimes I miss authors because I haven't heard of or decided to try their book yet. (But this is a small price to pay for all the events around here, I know, so not complaining.)Hope you enjoy the event!

what a cool site – every time there's an author in town, i always find out too late. thanks for the tip!

  3. Michelle Says:

I will def. right a post about the event.I looked up the Junot Diaz event, but it takes place in September. I will be long gone from Ann Arbor by the time he gets here. And the author events in Florida are even rarer…
